LCnano part of NSF Renewal of the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure Award

NSF renews investment in National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure

Lead by Prof. Westerhoff, LCnano is part of the Nanotechnology Collaborative Infrastructure Southwest (center link here) at Arizona State University within the NCI’s 16 sites. The NCI sites provide researchers from academia, large and small businesses, and government with access to leading-edge fabrication and characterization tools, instrumentation, and expertise across all disciplines of nanoscale science, engineering and technology. The LCnano laboratories and in-house expertise provide extensive capabilities for the characterization of nanomaterials in the environment.

LCnano is also part of the group of NCI sites that created a nano earth-systems research community. This community seeks to bring capabilities to multiple disciplines to characterize natural, incidental and engineered nanomaterials in complex environmental media. Such characterization will advance fundamental understand of nanomaterials in earth systems, support regulatory frameworks for the safe use of nanomaterials, and facilitate innovative nature-inspired solutions.
